These kinds of things happen inside Blaine Parker's head.
Sometimes they get out.
(Everything here written, directed, sometimes produced and often voiced by Blaine Parker.)
RADIO & OTHER AUDIO...
THE TRANS SHOP, "MARVIN"
Who says award-winning advertising never sells anything? This Los Angeles-area commercial won a coveted $5,000 Radio Mercury Award AND made Marvin's phone ring off the hook. (Yes, all you DR die hards out there--his phone rang like crazy, and there's no phone number or call to action in the commercial. Think on that. )
DR. SAM'S EYE CARE, "MOM"
United Eye Care in rural New Hampshire came to Slow Burn Marketing for re-branding. In turn, Blaine Parker and The Fabulous Honey Parker created Dr. Sam's Eye Care. The resulting advertising campaign (of which this radio commercial was one part) doubled Dr. Sam's new patient base in 8 weeks. In less than a year, a business that had been flat for ages was up 30%. Radio figured prominently in the media mix. Ten years later, the campaign continues, and Dr. Sam is a local legend.
ASPHALT LOVE, "NICE ASPHALT"
Recently, a client who worked with Blaine about 20 years ago resurfaced. Besides wanting that Parker touch on new materials, they wanted to do something completely different: create a feel-good piece about the idea of asphalt. This was written and produced as the soundtrack to a forthcoming video. As The Fabulous Honey Parker said after hearing this, "Wow, that actually makes asphalt sexy."
BRAZOS RED EYE BLOODY MARY MIX, "SAY, 'AHH'"
Another winner of the Radio Mercury Award, this one came with an added bonus: staff in the awards office couldn't stop playing it for their friends. Who knows what neighboring offices thought of all that screaming...
BRAZOS STAMPEDE BBQ SAUCE, "MARRIAGE CONFESSION"
A winner of the Radio And Production Magazine Awards for Large Market Commercial, this one features a gripping performance by The Fabulous Honey Parker.
GOLF KID, "I LIKE TO PLAY GOLF"
You love golf. You want to share it with your young son. But you don't like the way kids' golf clubs are just chopped-off versions of adult clubs. What do you do? You design true, kid-size clubs. And if you're going to advertise those clubs on the radio, it seems only fitting to have a testimonial from a 3-year-old duffer. Silver Microphone winner.

SARDO INTERIORS, "HOLIDAY TABLE"
Sonny Sardo is a second-generation Italian American. He has a heart for family and a love of high-quality interiors. When his scripted advertising was not making him happy nor making the phone ring, it was time for a different strategy. The result was so jarring, it scared Sonny. He was afraid it "doesn't sound like a commercial." He was persuaded to let it run anyway. Many years and more than 50 commercials later, the man is a local celebrity.

CREATIVE WOMAN, "WHADDA YA THINK?"
This commercial sold jack all. It never aired. The prospective client for whom it was created said, "It's not edgy enough." Nonetheless, it went on to win a Silver Microphone Award for Best Commercial That Never Made It To Air. (Apparently, it also horrified Blaine's boss.)
TWITTER COLLABORATION, "TWITSHOT #6"
Just one in an ongoing series of experiments in Twitter-based weirdness, this was produced in association with Canadian copywriter and poet, Mark Campbell. Blaine and Mark have never met anywhere besides on Twitter. Culling select tweets from Mark's twit stream, Blaine has assembled, recorded and produced several such collages.
